- Queen Elizabeth II had a Bentley state limo for a Rolls Royce, didn’t even need a license to drive
Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom has died at the age of 96. Born on April 21, 1926, the Queen took over the reign of Britain following the death of her father, King George, on February 6, 1952. He was just 25 years old at the time. Since then, he reigned for 70 years.
During her reign, the Queen has been seen in everything from vintage Rolls-Royces to customized Bentleys. His collection of royal cars had a very appealing mix. In such a situation, here we are talking about the queen’s car collection.
1. Bentley State Limo
The car the Queen often traveled in is a Bentley State Limousine. Bentley only made 2 copies of this car. This car was presented to the Queen at the end of her first 50 years on the throne. The cost of this powerful car is around 10 million pounds. It is powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
The bodywork and windows of the State Limousine have been reinforced. Its cabin is explosion-proof and can be hermetically sealed in the event of gas or chemical attack. The tires are also designed to keep rolling fast in an emergency. The position of the rear seat of the car was determined using a model of the same height as the queen.
The rear seats of the car are fitted with a lambswool fabric made by British textile manufacturer Heald Brothers. The rear carpet is light blue in color and the dark blue colored carpet has been installed in the front. While the Bentley was mainly used for official events, the Queen sometimes even drove it herself. Rani was the only person in the country who didn’t need a driver’s license.
