VW’s first all-electric limousine – the ID. AERO – Launch in China in 2023

The Volkswagen Group has released design sketches of the ID. AERO, the company’s first all-electric limousine for the Chinese automotive market. Like all models of the ID. family, the new limousine is based on Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB).

The future production version of the ID. AERO sees Volkswagen expanding its ID. family in the high-volume upper-middle-class segment, and accelerating its electric offensive as part of its ACCELERATE strategy.

Features of the pre-production study are the aerodynamic front and roof, which can help reduce energy consumption and increase range.

In a press release, VW states: “The production version of the ID. AERO is expected to be released in the Chinese automotive market in the second half of 2023. The corresponding production model for the North American and European market will be presented in 2023. Production of the serial version of the ID. AERO for the European and North American automotive market will then start at the Volkswagen plant in Emden’.

Around 184,000 people currently work at Volkswagen worldwide. In addition, there are more than 10,000 trading companies and service partners with 86,000 employees.

The digital world premiere of the pre-production car will take place on Monday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. (CEST).
